Applications for Majors and Minors

Students with questions regarding applying for a major or minor can contact LFS Student Services.

Majors

The Food Science major is competitive, which means you will need to apply if you wish to be considered. Both your academic performance and a letter of intent will be assessed when determining your fit for this major. You can find details about admission requirements and timelines in the UBC Academic Calendar.

If you are a high school, college or university student interested in pursuing this major at UBC, you need to apply for both the Bachelor of Science in Food, Nutrition and Health (you can learn more about this here) as well as the Food Science Major (please apply here). Please note, acceptance into the Food Science Major is provisional on acceptance into the Bachelor of Food, Nutrition and Health.

If you are a current student in the B.Sc. in Food, Nutrition and Health, applications for the Food Science Major are now open. Please apply here.
