Each year, there are typically 10 to 15 roles available.

About the role

As an Outreach Assistant, you will have to opportunity to:

  • Build personal connections with prospective students, faculty members and external organizations during events
  • Inspire and guide prospective students to help them feel confident about their post secondary choices
  • Gain hands-on experience with program facilitation
  • Enhance problem-solving abilities by addressing student questions and adapting communication skills
  • Practice public speaking and developing the ability to share a concise and clear message for a diverse audience
  • Work independently and collaboratively with other members of the LFS Outreach Team and LFS Student Service Staff Members

My favourite part of being an LFS Outreach Assistant has been getting to talk to prospective students, seeing their passion, hearing about their interests, and sharing my student experiences with them! It’s great to feel that I am making an impact on other students. One of the things I love is that while I am mentoring incoming students, I’m also being mentored by faculty and alumni both through community connections where I have learned about so many interesting careers in the agriculture industry.

– Victoria Pitsiaeli, 2024-2025 LFS Outreach
   Assistant

2nd year student in B.Sc. in Applied Biology
   and Master of Management

Being an LFS OA has significantly enhanced my public speaking skills and boosted my confidence when presenting in front of group of people. I also love how I get the opportunity to inform students about LFS and share my own experiences which has been both fulfilling and rewarding.
