Community Projects

Community Projects

Through the LFS Core Series of courses (LFS 250, 350), our students work with community partners to tackle real-world issues and propose solutions. These partners present diverse challenges, ranging from seed variety trialing to supporting food security in Northern BC, to working to forefront Indigenous worldviews in food security evaluation, to helping elementary school students learn to love peas!

Together, our community partners represent a dynamic segment of food leaders in B.C.

If you are interested in proposing a project challenge for LFS undergraduate students, get in touch. Our Community Relations Coordinator supports faculty, students and community organizations to do community engaged learning, by developing resources, providing guidance and finding opportunities to deepen and strengthen community relationships, while applying disciplinary knowledge and integrating community expertise.

If you have ideas for community engaged learning opportunities, please contact Stephanie Lim, Community Relations Coordinator (stephanie.lim@ubc.ca).
