By tackling some of the most fundamental issues surrounding the sustainable production of healthy food and the state of our shared environment, the Faculty of Land and Food Systems provides a good fit for Aboriginal Students interesting in pursuing the Sciences at UBC.
As the Faculty takes an integrated, system-based approach that unites scientific knowledge spanning from the molecular level to that of entire ecosystems, Aboriginal Students are exposed to a spectrum of opportunities that can help translate a passion for the natural world into meaningful areas of study.
As local and global communities become increasingly integrated, providing solutions to the integration of human health and the responsible use of precious land, food, and water resources has never been more important.
The Faculty of Land and Food Systems is committed to recruiting, retaining and supporting Aboriginal students in the Sciences at UBC, providing support and access through strategic partnerships with Aboriginal educational institutes and community colleges.
New Website for Aboriginal Science
In conjunction with the Faculty of Science, a new website is dedicated to Aboriginal Science at UBC. Working with teachers and school counsellors to participate in developing web content, the goal is to make Science at UBC more accessible to aboriginal students by posting information useful to aboriginal science students at UBC and potential science students in the K-12 school system and community colleges.
