John (Jack) Hall was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta, in 1948 and received a BSc (Agr) with a Major in Agricultural Economics in 1971. In recalling his memories of student life at UBC Jack is grateful for "The Barn" and those "much-needed coffee breaks". His most enjoyable learning experience was taking Ag Econ 400 with Dr Peter Arcus. This course involved field trips with a small class (4 students) and very practical assignments. His graduating thesis topic was "Optimum economic living conditions for feedlot livestock in a cold environment".
Currently Jack is Vice President, Land Management Division, BC Assets and Land Corporation. Previously he held the posts of Regional Director, BC Lands, in Smithers, Williams Lake and Vancouver, BC; Executive Director, Regional Operations, BC Lands; and Director of Operations, BC Parks.
Jack and wife Catherine reside in Victoria, BC and they have one son.
