The online application for 2012-2013 TA, Markers, and Tutors is now closed.  Thank you to all of you who applied.  Successful applicants will be contacted directly by instructors during the summer months.  Contracts will be sent out in August for both terms.

The Faculty of Land & Food Systems requires Teaching Assistants, PBL Tutors and/or Markers in the attached course list. Each position will be for a fixed number of hours per term, but the exact number of hours will depend upon the final enrolment in the course. Minimum salary for each appointment will be in accordance with current the CUPE 2278 rates.

Teaching Assistants:

Teaching Assistants will assist with a variety of course related activities, and may include setting up and assisting in laboratories, marking or assisting in marking assignments and examinations, invigilation of exams and carrying out related library work.
Applicants for the Teaching Assistant positions must have a suitable background, normally be a graduate student in the course subject area; however, senior undergraduates with appropriate backgrounds can also apply. All applicants must discuss their application with the course instructor.

Markers:
Markers will be assigned to a course (consistent with their background) and will be required to assist in invigilation of exams and in the marking of assignments and examinations.
Applicants for Marker positions must have a suitable background, and normally be a graduate student in the course subject area; however, senior undergraduates with appropriate backgrounds can also apply. All applicants should discuss their application with the course instructor.

Problem Based Learning (PBL) Tutors:
Problem Based Learning (PBL) Tutors will be assigned to a course to serve as the tutor (facilitator) for student group discussions. Assisting in the evaluation of assignments and examinations may be required. To be appointed as PBL Tutor, you must have completed the Faculty's 3-day PBL Tutor Training Workshop, and signed the PBL Tutor Expectation form (this will be sent to you when you are offered a Tutor position). Both graduate and undergraduate students can apply. NB pay rate and hours are the same as for equivalent TA positions.

Applicants:
Positions will be assigned in consultation with individual instructors and Academic Program Directors. The Faculty makes every effort to inform applicants of the assignments by late August, however, finalised assignments may not be possible until course enrolments and the specific needs for these positions have been confirmed. Enrolment and budgetary constraints will also affect the number of appointments.
