All applicants should complete the online application form and application fee payment ** available from the Graduate Studies website. A copy of your online application form and notification of application fee payment will be provided to the Faculty you are applying to. A non-refundable application fee for international students is $153.00 CAD. International Graduate Studies ApplicantsFor details concerning international admission requirements, international Graduate applicants should visit Faculty of Graduate Studies Admissions for a detailed listing of general requirements by country. Please note that international students requiring Student Authorization to enter Canada should submit their applications at least six months before the proposed date of admission to avoid delays in visa processing. Faculty of Land and Food Systems Application Deadlines: MSc/PhD
For the MFS and MFRE degrees, intake of students is September only. The application deadline for September 2010 is January 4, 2010. Students are responsible for ensuring that the Graduate Programs Coordination office receives their application and supporting documents well before the application deadlines, as considerable time may be required to complete the evaluation process. Two sets of official transcripts (and degree certificates, if applicable) of all post-secondary study must be submitted directly from all post-secondary institutions you have attended to: Graduate Programs If the institutions you previously attended do not mail out original academic records directly, attested copies of transcripts received in sealed envelopes and endorsed by the Registrar at these institutes will be accepted. Where academic records are produced in a language other than English, the applicant must arrange for the submission of official literal translations of all records. In cases where the transcript does not clearly state that a degree has been conferred, an official degree certificate is required to accompany the academic record. English Language Proficiencya) Applicants from a university outside Canada in which English is not the primary language of instruction must present evidence of competency to pursue studies in the English language prior to being extended an offer of admission. Test scores must have been taken within the last 24 months at the time of submission of your application, and an official test score ordered from the testing agency is required for application. In addition to TOEFL, IELTS and MELAB are also acceptable (see below). Photocopies of test scores are not acceptable. The minimum TOEFL score required by all Graduate Programs in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems is 577 (paper-based test), 233 (computer-based test) or 90 (internet-based). TOEFL scores must be issued to the Faculty of Land and Food Systems directly from the Educational Testing Centre. Please ensure that you correctly identify The University of British Columbia's institution numerical code as 0965, the department code as 99, and the "reason for taking TOEFL" as "2" (to enter a college or university as a graduate student) on the TOEFL test sheet.
