Dr. McAusland’s research focuses on interactions between globalization and public good provision. This research has included investigations into the impacts of trade liberalization on environmental politics, as well as the potential use of trade policy to stem damages from exotic species introductions and biological invasions. Her current research investigates how the environmental impacts of international trade vary depending on the underlying motive for trade, be it consumers’ quest for novel product varieties or firms’ need for cheap inputs. Dr. McAusland is the Canada Research Chair in Trade and Environment. She is a co-editor of The Journal of Environmental Economics and Management and has served as an elected board member of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists.
