COMMUNITY & EDUCATION

Although the primary role of the Dairy Centre is to provide educational opportunities for university undergraduate and graduate students as well as postdoctoral fellows it has also has developed numerous productive linkages with the local community and beyond.

  • Provide educational tours for school classes
  • Provide work experience for Canadian and international high school, college, and university students
  • Provide opportunities for veterinary medical students to gain experience working with large animals
  • Provide educational tours for Canadian and international industry and government delegations
  • Train animal technician students form the University College of the Fraser Valley
  • Consult with individuals and groups seeking information about the BC and Canadian dairy industries, dairy equipment, herd management, etc.
  • Work with the BC Milk Producers Association and BC Dairy Foundation in producing educational materials 
  • Participate in Westgen’s young sire proving program
  • Provide animals and facilities to Greenbelt Veterinary Services for a course training individuals in the evaluation of animal health
  • Provide animals and facilities for Valley Genetic Services’ artificial insemination training course
  • Deliver applied research presentations to industry groups in Canada and internationally
  • Publish and distribute Research Reports outlining recent applied research findings at the Centre
