“Cultivating Place” Presented to UBC Senate

The South Campus Academic Plan, “Cultivating Place”, was presented to the UBC-Vancouver Senate on the evening of Wednesday, December 16th, 2009. This presentation completes the delivery of this plan to UBC’s high-level governing bodies, leading to further refinements in its status as a “living document” shared online for feedback, and in the development of more detailed implementation plans in 2010.

“Cultivating Place” recieved by UBC’s Board of Governors

The new south campus academic plan, focused on the 24-ha UBC Farm area and entitled, “Cultivating Place,” was received by UBC’s Board of Governors, in a presentation at the Nov 24 committee meetings and with further confirmation at the full board meeting on Dec 3. The presentation, delivered by south campus academic planning committee co-chairs Andrew Riseman and Mark Bomford, was introduced by Provost David Farrar and the Dean of the Faculty of Land and Food Systems, Murray Isman. The Board’s response was uniformly positive, adding support to the endorsement of the plan by UBC’s Executive three weeks earlier.

New south campus academic plan website launched

Following the successful completion of the Sustainability Academic Strategy, and the pending wrap-up of the sas.ubc.ca site, the south campus academic plan has moved to its new location. This will serve as a space for dialogue and as a repository for some of the supporting material that shaped the plan’s development.
