Community Engagement

Our Faculty fosters strong linkages and partnerships with the local and global community through community engaged learning and research, including public education, agricultural extension, working with producers and other parts of the food sector.

Goal Action
Build sustainable alumni and community engagement and commitment to LFS  by expanding opportunities for lifelong engagement
  • Regularly communicate with alumni to increase and support alumni engagement
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with LFS alumni in industry, government and non-government agencies and the general public, including our Aboriginal/Indigenous communities
Establish a sustainable fundraising program for annual goals and build strong development partnerships
  • Fundraise for the building at the UBC Farm
  • Identify and cultivate new industry, government, non-government and community partnerships for research faculty as well as for undergraduate and graduate scholarships
Increase understanding and awareness of the Faculty of Land and Food Systems
  • Develop and execute LFS brand refresh
  • Develop and execute strategic internal and external communications plans for LFS
  • Strengthen efforts to promote teaching and research excellence and outreach internally and externally
